About the Role
Our client is a small law firm on the U.S. East Coast seeking a Virtual Legal Assistant to support the attorney and existing legal assistant. The role covers general legal administrative support, case organization, and light guardianship/accounting-related tasks. This position starts part-time with strong potential to move to full-time. Schedule: 20 hours/week to start, with potential to grow to full-time
Time Zone: Must work Eastern Time (ET) business hours
Responsibilities
Open and organize new case files
Manage the attorney's calendar and schedule meetings
Provide light legal support work as needed
Prepare and file documents with the courts as directed by the attorney
Maintain organization within Time Matters case management software
Draft and send emails on the attorney's behalf; stay CC'd on correspondence to follow up with other attorneys regarding motions
Follow up with care facilities and other third parties to gather information needed for annual guardianship accountings
Perform data entry of financial information (bank statements, client expenses) into Excel spreadsheets
Support overflow work for the firm's in-house legal assistant
Requirements
Minimum 3-4 years of experience as a legal assistant or virtual assistant
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (near-essential)
Experience using Microsoft Outlook
Familiarity with Time Matters software preferred; training will be provided
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Comfortable with data entry and general administrative/legal support tasks
Available to work during Eastern Time business hours
Nice to Have
Spanish language proficiency (a strong plus, not required — many of the firm's clients communicate in Spanish)
