Role Overview

We are seeking a highly capable Controller / Associate Controller to own and oversee day-to-day accounting operations for a growing organization with multiple entities and complex reporting requirements. This role is both hands-on and strategic, responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records while gradually elevating processes, controls, and reporting quality.

The ideal candidate is a senior-level accounting professional who is comfortable operating with minimal oversight, running the books end-to-end in Sage Intacct, and collaborating closely with U.S.-based leadership. Strong English communication, sound judgment, and a proactive mindset are critical, as this role will serve as a key partner to management in financial decision-making.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Own the day-to-day accounting operations across multiple entities, maintaining accurate and timely records in Sage Intacct with minimal supervision.

- Process and review expense data from Fyle, ensuring proper coding, approvals, and seamless integration into Sage Intacct.

- Maintain general ledger integrity, including journal entries, accruals, adjustments, and intercompany activity.

- Execute and oversee monthly close, including account reconciliations, variance reviews, and preparation of financial statements.

- Prepare recurring financial reports such as liquidity summaries, NAV or management reports, and ad hoc analyses for leadership.

- Ensure accounting is maintained across multiple dimensions (e.g., tax basis, accrual basis, fair value reporting) and understand how these views interact.

- Establish, document, and refine accounting processes, controls, and reporting frameworks to support scale and audit readiness.

- Support accounting system optimization and future transitions or enhancements beyond Sage Intacct as the organization grows.

- Collaborate closely with U.S.-based executives and finance leaders, communicating clearly on status, risks, and recommendations.

- Assist with audits, internal reviews, and special financial projects as needed.

Required Skills and Abilities

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.

- 8+ years of accounting experience, with demonstrated progression toward controller-level responsibility.

- Strong command of U.S. GAAP and full-cycle accounting across multiple entities.

- Hands-on experience running books in Sage Intacct.

- Experience processing and managing expense platforms such as Fyle or similar tools.

- Ability to work confidently with multi-dimensional accounting structures (tax, accrual, fair value, entity-level reporting).

- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, XLOOKUP, data validation, reconciliations).

- Proven ability to operate independently, identify gaps, and proactively solve problems.

- Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal); clear, confident, and professional presence.

- Strong ownership mindset, attention to detail, and reliability in a remote environment.

- Ability to work US hours, with flexibility once independently working in the role depending on client preferences.

Preferred Qualifications

- Prior experience supporting growing companies, family offices, investment structures, or multi-entity organizations.

- CPA or equivalent professional certification.

- Experience leading or mentoring junior accounting staff.

- Background in accounting system implementations or migrations.

- Familiarity with project management tools such as Asana or Monday.com.

- Experience working with U.S.-based leadership teams in a remote setting.
