About the Company
Our client operates within the youth sports industry, providing organized sports programs for children and families across local communities.
This particular position will support a group of five franchise territories, creating an opportunity for one senior marketing professional to take ownership of marketing strategy and performance across multiple markets.
The territories currently have several marketing activities underway, including paid digital advertising, social media, email marketing, and local guerrilla marketing initiatives. However, marketing has historically been more reactive than strategically coordinated.
The ownership team now wants to bring greater sophistication, consistency, accountability, and data-driven decision-making to marketing across the territories.
The Opportunity
This is a hands-on senior marketing role for someone who combines strategic thinking, technical marketing knowledge, analytical ability, and execution. The Marketing Director will become the central point of ownership for marketing across the five territories.
The business does not need a candidate whose primary strength is graphic design or creative content production. Instead, they need someone who is highly data-driven and analytical, a professional who understands modern digital marketing channels and can use performance data to make intelligent decisions about where the business should invest its time and marketing budget.
The successful candidate will evaluate the current marketing ecosystem, establish clearer reporting and measurement, improve Meta and email marketing, oversee social media activity, manage the existing Google Ads agency, and help leadership understand the ROI of its overall marketing spend. This individual should be equally comfortable discussing high-level marketing strategy with ownership and getting into the details of campaign performance.
Why This Role Exists
To build a sustainable growth engine across all five territories, this organization is creating the Marketing Director role to transition its marketing operations from a fragmented, reactive collection of activities into a strategic, measurable growth engine. Currently, marketing initiatives exist in silos without overarching leadership: Google Ads rely on an external agency that requires tighter internal oversight and clearer reporting; Meta advertising is limited to ad-hoc boosted posts rather than structured, full-funnel lead generation campaigns; and local guerrilla marketing efforts lack mechanisms to track ROI.
The Marketing Director will take complete ownership of the complete picture—managing the Google Ads agency relationship, optimizing HubSpot email marketing, refining local and social media strategies, and establishing performance tracking. Ultimately, this leader will bring executive-level accountability to answer the business's core strategic question: what marketing is actually driving growth, and where should capital be invested for the strongest return?
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Marketing & Budget Allocation
- Develop and execute an integrated, multi-channel marketing plan across paid ads, email, social media, and local tactics to support the growth goals of five i9 territories.
- Analyze performance across all marketing channels to optimize budget allocation, reallocating capital toward high-performing campaigns and discontinuing underperforming activities.
- Serve as the chief marketing advisor to ownership, balancing group-wide brand consistency with market-specific needs.
Marketing Analytics & Business Performance
- Establish core marketing KPIs—including cost per lead, customer acquisition cost, conversion rates, and ROI—and build standardized cross-territory reporting.
- Translate complex marketing metrics into clear, actionable business insights for leadership that explain campaign results and guide future strategy.
- Implement dynamic testing frameworks across all initiatives to continually improve conversion rates and lower customer acquisition costs.
Paid Social Execution (Meta Advertising)
- Build and oversee structured Meta advertising campaigns focused on audience targeting, lead generation, retargeting, and registrations, moving the organization beyond basic boosted posts.
- Establish testing processes for ad creative, messaging, offers, and audience segments to maximize the efficiency of Meta ad spend.
Lifecycle & Automated Email Marketing (HubSpot)
- Design and execute structured email campaigns and automated lead-nurturing sequences in HubSpot to engage both prospective and existing customers.
- Oversee audience list segmentation and run continuous A/B testing on subject lines, timing, and offers to improve open, click-through, and conversion rates.
Agency Oversight & Search Engine Marketing (Google Ads)
- Act as the primary internal manager for the external Google Ads agency, setting campaign priorities, setting deliverables, and holding them accountable for results.
- Audit agency reporting, verify conversion tracking accuracy, and challenge agency recommendations when necessary to ensure Google Ads deliver strong ROI across all territories.
Social Media & Community Content Strategy
- Oversee an intentional organic social media strategy that aligns with broader business goals and directly contributes to awareness, engagement, and lead generation.
- Measure content formats against tangible business outcomes and coordinate organic posting with paid advertising initiatives.
Offline, Local & Guerrilla Marketing Attribution
- Evaluate offline, community-focused guerrilla marketing activities to implement tracking methods and measure true local lead attribution.
- Identify high-value community marketing tactics to scale across territories while scaling back offline initiatives that lack clear returns.
Cross-Territory Coordination & Scalability
- Manage and coordinate marketing activities across all five territories to ensure every market receives balanced support and resources.
- Identify successful local strategies and turn them into scalable, repeatable marketing systems that can be shared across all territories.
Required Experience
Strong candidates should demonstrate experience across several of the following areas:
Multi-Location & Territory Management
- Demonstrated experience managing marketing operations for a franchise system, multi-location business, or geographically distributed organization.
- Proven ability to balance overarching brand strategy with market-specific execution across multiple distinct territories.
- Background in youth sports, recreation, fitness, education, home services, or consumer service industries is strongly preferred.
Technical Platform Proficiency
- Hands-on expertise using Meta Ads Manager to build, manage, and optimize multi-objective campaign structures.
- Experience utilizing HubSpot for list segmentation, automated lead-nurturing workflows, and lifecycle email marketing.
- Solid understanding of Google Ads, Google Analytics, conversion tracking, CRM platform management, and marketing automation tools.
Modern Digital Marketing & Industry Trends
- Active understanding of current digital advertising practices, including recent developments in search engine marketing, social algorithms, data privacy, and attribution models.
- Functional knowledge of AI-enabled marketing tools and modern automation techniques to increase campaign efficiency.
- Intellectual curiosity with a track record of adapting marketing strategies to continuous platform updates and evolving consumer behaviors.
Data Analytics & Performance Optimization
- Strong analytical mindset focused on evaluating marketing metrics, setting key performance indicators, and translating raw data into actionable business decisions.
- Hands-on experience establishing campaign attribution, auditing conversion tracking, and optimizing marketing spend to improve acquisition costs and return on investment.
- Experience creating clear executive dashboards and reports that explain performance trends to non-marketing leadership.
Key Competencies
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Able to use marketing data rather than assumptions to guide strategy.
- Strategic Thinking: Capable of understanding the broader business objective and building marketing plans around it.
- Commercial Awareness: Understands that marketing ultimately needs to contribute to business growth, customer acquisition, and revenue.

- Organization: Capable of managing multiple campaigns and priorities across five territories simultaneously.

- Curiosity: Continuously learns about new marketing platforms, technology, AI, analytics, and consumer trends.
